Compostmodern 08（いい造語！）は、AIGA（アメリカ・グラフィックアート協会）が主宰する「デザイン×サステナビリティ」をテーマとしたカンファレンス。サンフランシスコでビエンナーレとして開催され、04、06に続いて今回が3回目です。
エコやサステナビリティが余計に叫ばれるようになって、単なるマーケティングのトレンドなのか、それとも本当のパラダイムシフトなのか、傾倒とバッシングが入り混じっている。それだけ以前に比べて実際的な問題となりつつあるときに、理想をカタチにするためにデザイナーは何が出来るのか、デザインコミュニティから発信していこうというイベントのようです。
スピーカーは、WitでもインタビューしたOpenのScott Stowellや、VSA PartnersのJeff Walker、WorldchangingのAlex Steffenなど興味深い面々。他にもIDEOやnike、NAUなど注目の企業からも登場します。（ちなみに前回はAdbustersのカル、Futurefarmersのエイミーなどが出演したのか！）
かなりマストなイベントなのだけど、今回行けないことは確定なので、ブログとかのレポートを追いかけようと思います。こういうカンファレンスに、仕事でいくようにならなくてはとそろそろ本気で！

Compostmodern is an interdisciplinary design conference dedicated to promoting sustainable solutions within the design community at large. We hope you’ll join us for a day of turning idealism into actual business practice as we explore solutions for making the world a better place (and further define design’s place in it).
AIGA San Francisco and the AIGA Center for Sustainable Design will present the third biennial Compostmodern on January 19th in San Francisco.
